In 1963, Olds was approached with the challenge to evolve bugles into marching horns. Zig Kanstul was assigned the task.

The first instrument chosen was the mellophone. With its success, other marching instruments quickly followed.

When Kanstul left Olds, he moved to King where he designed a line of marching horns for them. These became the standard for marching instruments.

Now produced under his own brand, these marching instruments, developed from Zig's original designs, provide the intonation and durability necessary for modern field drills and expand the musical experience for all students - from drum corps in the summer months to marching and football season in the fall.
